Name: [Jim Kaylak]
Species: [Human]
Occupation: [Bounty Hunter]
Character History:
Jim Kaylak’s home planet was Tatooine. Little is known about his past. The parents either abandoned Jim or were killed, no one really knows for sure. Nor that the Jim cared much about it anyway. When still young he was working as a servant to a merchant in the local black market. Though the sly trader was rude, cruel and heartless, at least Jim learnt to use blasters and gained basic slicer skills. It was necessary because the merchant often sent Jim to steal various things. As the years passed the boy’s skills sharpened and his heart became cold almost as the trader’s. Jim killed for the first time when he was seventeen. Because of carelessness the agile young man was detected when sneaking in a weapon shop. The owner ran out with a repeater in his hands and if it wasn’t for Jim’s quick reactions he was going to be killed immediately. He rolled quickly behind the counter and grabbed a blaster pistol on the move. The man running the shop was may be a good trader but had relatively poor weapon skills. In the right moment a single, precise shot went through the man’s head and he dropped dead. Jim didn’t have time to hide the body but he got what he needed and left quickly enough to not be seen by anyone.
About a month after the accident in the weapon shop Jim realized how easy it was to kill the merchant in the black market and escape. However the young man didn’t have any ideas what to do with his life if he did that. Jim didn’t have any grand destiny to fulfill. It seemed he would remain on Tatooine serving to the greedy bastard for the rest of his life. And it would have been so if not for a mysterious arrival of an unknown foreigner. Jim was sent by the merchant to look around the newcomer’s ship and take anything that would seem “interesting”. Jim did not really cared from who he was stealing this time so he just grabbed his blaster pistol and carefully asked the local people for more information. It wasn’t hard to find out the where the foreigner’s ship landed. Though Jim knew nothing of the person, the youth didn’t waste much time thinking about it. Using all he had learnt that far Jim carefully sneaked to the landed spacecraft. It was a Chela-class starfighter, looked like it has been used for a long time and had multiple scars. The hatch was closed but Jim knew a few tricks on how to open electronically locked doors. He approached the ship and got to work on getting it open. It was a lot harder than regular gates but it was still within the young man’s capabilities. The hatch slowly and smoothly opened. But just when Jim was going to take a peek inside a voice came from behind.
“Hey! What are you doing there?”
About fifty meters away form Jim stood a man wearing light scout armor. A standard helmet covered the face and there was something on his back but it was hard to see at the moment. Not waiting for the stranger to attack first, Jim rolled to one side firing his weapon precisely. To his amazement, the strange guy dodged the shot with ease and took out a pair of blasters. Before the young man knew what happened his own blaster was shot away form his hand and a second laser went closely past his head. Jim immediately knew that he underestimated his foe and tried to run away. A strange-looking fire lit up below the armored man and he flew, catching up in a few seconds and gave a strong kick to Jim. While he was rolling on the ground the stranger landed and gave out a short laugh.
“Heh-heh. And I thought the security level on the ship was set high enough. Who would have thought that this miserable planet would give birth to such a sneaky hacker?”-he said quietly to himself. Then the man turned to Jim. “Boy, you show great potential for your age. You got some nice moves and I didn’t even notice you until you opened the hatch. Do you want to spend the rest of your life on the sandy grounds of Tatooine?”
“What do you mean?”-carefully asked Jim after finally managing to stand up.
“It’s been really boring lately. Traveling around alone taking out the lowest trash in the Galaxy isn’t much fun lately. You show some great potential. I don’t know how one with your skills is a lowly thief on Tatooine. You could become and assassin, smuggler or a bounty hunter like me. If you want I’ll take you with me to teach you some more advance skills about those professions. You could see the Galaxy beyond this sandy rock. It’s certainly more fun than robbing local shops and foreigner’s ships. My name’s Jord Leven by the way.”
Jim accepted the bounty hunter’s offer. Jord always took his young apprentice on the easier missions. As Jim got better even the hardest assignments weren’t a problem. He learnt to fly with the jetpack and fire more accurately but he concentrated on learning to use blaster rifles, giving up the light blasters. The ability to move unseen also improved and he sometimes could take entire squads without giving away his true location. Years passed and Jim got really got at his job. He handled all kinds of dangerous missions and gained some hefty sums. All went well and smoothly until one day. Jim and Jord were tasked to steal information from one of the main computers on Coruscant. The task went smoothly to one point. The two hunters carefully avoided the patrols and were able to sneak to the destination. It would only take a few minutes for Jord, more skilled in slicing, to get the info they needed. But something went wrong. May be the information they were stealing was more important than they thought or it was a trap for them from the beginning. But either way a person dressed in armored robes appeared. Even before the red lightsaber flashed, the two knew he was a force user. Jord and Jim flew up and started shooting at the sith. With almost ridiculous ease the robed person parried all the precise laser attacks. Before Jord could react the sith almost flew in the air and the thrown lightsaber split Jim’s master in half. The lone bounty hunter quickly realized the threat and successfully made his escape. But the image of Jord was burnt in his mind and he could never forget how the dark force user killed him. Jim would get even better and someday would find that sith. Though the head was covered with a cowl there was definitely a way to find that bastard again.
Years passed since the accident. Jim Kaylak became a great bounty hunter, always getting the job done as long as the credits were coming. He was unsocial and had very few friends. Still Jim was a bit famous in certain planets and he was often called all around the galaxy for the dangerous dirty jobs. The crude bounty hunter is completely indifferent about who he works for. Jim could give his services the evil siths or work for the Jedies as long as he was paid, though he was rarely called by the light force users. As for description he had short straight black hair. The deep brown eyes were usually hidden under the standard scout armor helmet. His armor was painted purposely black because most of his work was done at night. Jim has no permanent home as he travels around a lot.

Jim had simple orders. Infiltrate the facility on Nar Shaddaa, killing any resistance encountered. Steal the data from the computer then get out. Simple enough. Jim turned off his jet pack as he landed looking down. He had a good view of the building and saw only few guards in front. Though no doubt there were more inside. He took out his disruptor rifle slowly and zoomed a few times. Two rodians and a human, armed with repeaters. Easy prey. Jim pointed the gun on one of the rodians and then on the human. He wasn’t sure who to kill first. Not that it mattered much anyway. His finger moved carefully and slowly pulled the trigger. A hardly visible long line instantly disintegrated the human.
The two rodians started shouting something in their unpleasant language. One of them was pointing in Jim’s direction. Not waiting for what will happen next the bounty hunter prepared to fire again. Though the targets were hastily fleeing inside the building he managed just barely to take out one more. Definitely a lucky shot but as long as the enemy is dead who cared. Jim knew what was going to happen next and started the jetpack. He silently flew to the right side of the building, careful not to be noticed. Then he stack to the wall and waited.
A larger group of soldiers ran out of the buildings. About ten men. The bounty hunter recognized the rodian that noticed him earlier. After a very short conversation the group headed to the place Jim fired the disruptor rifle. Too bad they won’t find him there anymore. Waiting for the moment when the guards were far enough, Jim silently slipped inside the facility. He only knew that the archive computer was on the second floor, reached via elevator. The bounty hunter moved as quiet as he could. The elevator had to be just behind that corner.
After taking a last look around to ensure no one is following him, he quickly moved down the corridor. Jim turned and had the unpleasant surprise to face two rodians, stationed on guard, right in front of him. They were just as surprised as he was and raised their blasters. Luckily the bounty hunter’s reactions were faster. Immediately he raised his right wrist and a wave of flame came out. The two screamed the weapons slipped form their hands. However Jim had no time to finish them off. He quickly run past them and jumped in the elevator closing the gate behind him. The bounty hunter heard a lot of noises and angry shouts as well as heavy footsteps coming his way. He had to get what he came for and leave or he risked being overwhelmed by the guards.
It seemed forever until the elevator reached the second floor. Jim was waiting with a loaded disruptor, ready to fire immediately. For his relief there was only one guy, operating the computer. Without any hesitation the bounty hunter disintegrated the man with one precise shot. Then he quickly turned and blasted off the panel of the elevator. That would at least temporarily slow down the guards. Jim now had to work on getting the data he needed. The defenses of the computer were surprisingly low. Of course it was so since this particular one wasn’t connected to the main network. The only way of getting something from this computer was coming in this guarded facility. It seemed that whoever hid the data here relied on physical defenses not electronic. There, the data was copied on the memory device. It was given to him earlier for the purpose. The voices got louder and louder. Jim had to leave and be quick to do it. Once again the bounty hunter loaded his disruptor, praying that the windows weren’t heavy armored. Luck was definitely on his side this time. The windows shattered after a few shots. Jim flew off the opening not wasting any more time. In a tougher mission the facility could be entirely locked down and there could be no easy escape routes. But as long as the job was done it didn’t matter. Now was time to get the well-deserved payment.
